The Smithsonian Castle

The Smithsonian Castle is perhaps the most distinctive of the Smithsonian Institute's buildings located on the National Mall. While it primarily serves administrative purposes, the south side of the mall, along Independence Ave., also contains the Freer Gallery of Art, the National Museum of African Art, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the National Air & Space Museum, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the United States Botanic Garden.
