What is Passport DC?

During the month of May, Washington DC will showcase a variety of cultural events, including concerts and festivals, highlighted by free tours of over 50 embassies on May 3rd, and 28 European embassies on May 10th.

There will be hundreds of other events throughout the month under the PassportDC banner.

What are the Passport DC Signature Events for 2014?

  • Around the World Embassy Tour (Saturday, May 3, 10am-4pm) More than 50 embassies will be open and offering tours with examples of food and art from their various cultures. The following embassies will be participating: League of Arab States, Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Chad, Colombia, Republic of Congo, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia, Mexico, Federated States of Micronesia, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St. Kitts and Nevis, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Zambia. Admission is free; no registration required; free shuttle service 10am-4pm from Dupont Circle Station.

  • Shortcut to Europe: European Union Embassies’ Open House (Saturday, May 10, 10am-4pm) European nations will open their embassies on May 11th showing off their unique cultures. Participating embassies include: Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, United Kingdom, Austria, Cyprus, Estonia, France and the Federal Republic of Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, the Delegation of the European Union, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Republic of Poland, Slovakia, and Sweden. Admission is free; no registration required; free shuttle service 10am-4pm from Dupont Circle Station.

  • Embassy Chef Challenge (Thursday, May 15, 6pm-9:30pm) This fundraiser event gives access to world class chefs. Attendees can cast a ballot for the People's Choice award.

  • National Asian Heritage Festival: Fiesta Asia Street Fair (Saturday, May 17, 10am-7pm) The Asia Heritage Foundation will put on a day of performances along Pennsylvania Ave with over 70 performances on 5 stages, a parade, and various cultural activities.
